Kiwanis Youth in Action Gala Dinner

On March 29, 2020 the Kiwanis Club Vero-Treasure Coast is holding a gala dinner at the Vero Beach Yacht Club to support the Kiwanis Youth in Action program. The event will start at 5:30 PM. Jazz music will be provided by the very talented high school jazz band. Tickets are $100.00 per person. Call Carolyn McEvoy at 772-925-4791 for tickets and sponsorship opportunities.

The Kiwanis Youth in Action program began 25years ago when Kiwanis member Al Sammartino organized a group of youth that wanted to help the community. They wanted to paint the homes, build handicap ramps, and in general perform general services for those in need. AL knew a fellowl parishioner who needed her house painted. He contacted Richard Schlitt, a local painter and future Kiwanis member, who also had a volunteer group and they joined forces to do volunteer work. Thirty five teens painted the home.

Today, Kiwanis Youth in Action has expanded to about 18 work projects per year involving well over 200 teens and adults who share their time, talents and resources to help those in need..

In 2018 Kiwanis Youth Action won the Indian River County Environmental Award.

With your help they can continue to help the less fortunate and learn social responsibility and citizenship skills along the way.
