Intro to ORCA's One Helath Fish Monitoring project webinar

Thursday, Jul 9, 2020 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: Online

Category: Community

ORCA's One Health program is focused on studying the transfer of toxins and toxicants from the Indian River Lagoon to humans and animals. One way we do this is by testing fish from the lagoon and surrounding waterways for cyanotoxins (the toxins produced by blue-green algae), plastics, and anthropogenic chemicals (e.g. glyphosate, pharmaceuticals and personal care products).

One Health Citizen Scientists assist in collecting fish (GO FISHING FOR SCIENCE!), as well as processing and analyzing samples in the lab at ORCA’s Center for Citizen Science.
