Friends of St. Sebastian River Meeting

Tuesday, Oct 26, 2021 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location: North Indian River County Library

Category: Lectures

The Friends of St. Sebastian River will hold our postponed September general meeting, on October 26th. Indian River County Conservation Lands Manager Beth Powell will join us for a presentation on their plans for improvements to the South Prong Preserve, to make it available for public access.

The Preserve consists of land on both the north and south sides of route 510 – the north side includes a home the County has offered us the use of for office space, with the condition that we assist them with public outreach. No improvements are proposed for this part of the Preserve and can be made available to the public soon, with our assistance.

Improvements to the Preserve on the south side of route 510 will provide for information and interpretation of the habitats found there, as well as better public access. We understand there are some of the oldest cypress trees remaining in the County on this property, which is the upper reaches of the South Prong of the St. Sebastian River, so we eager to check it out, and lead tours there once it is open.

All are welcome, so please join us on Tuesday, October 26th, 6pm at the North Indian River County Library, 1001 Sebastian Blvd., and you will find more information on our website at www.fssr.org/meeting.htm, or call 772-202-0501.
