by Thomas Miller, aka The Treasure Coast Foodie    -   At the end of every year I write an article entitled The Golden Fork Awards. We are once again lifting this off the digital pages an into an event in Vero Beach!  

At the event we will be honoring the Top 10 Best Dishes I reviewed over the last year, as well as a Chef of the Year and Restaurant of the Year.

Guests attending will enjoy a tasting from each restaurant. Event tickets provide one complimentary beverage. Additional drinks will be available from the cash bar.

We decided to kick things up a notch this year and bring in a panel of judges to taste and vote for their favorite dishes. They will pick the Top 4 favorites of the night and those chefs will move on to the Treasure Coast MasterChef competition on Tuesday, February 22nd. Our featured charity for this event is The Source Ministries. The Dining with Dignity Training program is a ground breaking new program that offers culinary training as a way to change lives! DDTP’s core program will help unemployed men and women replace limited skills, homelessness, addiction, and incarceration with new careers and changed lives.

We’ve also partnered with Indian River State College, giving their Hospitality and Culinary Program students real world experience by working first hand with local chefs and restaurants at this event. Indian River State College is one of the Best Culinary Schools in Florida, and is located right here in Indian River County on the Mueller Campus.
