Under the Florida Skies with Jon Bell

Thursday, Jan 10, 2019 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Location: The Emerson Center

Category: Lectures

Florida's skies are special. Broad vistas frame low-slung horizons that are crowned with a lush blue canopy and cleansed by fresh ocean breezes. Clearly, the heavens above Florida are unique — whether seen by day or night. In our area, Florida nights come alive thanks to "Skywatch," a brief, informative, daily radio series presented by Jon Bell, Associate Professor of Astronomy at Indian River State College and, since it opened in 1993, the director of the school's Hallstrom Planetarium.

Bell's radio programs give listeners tips on observable stellar phenomena and alert them to earth science facts that provide an "inside track" on our beautiful planet and the place it holds in a vast universe. Importantly, Bell is a scientist with a gift for making science fun and entertaining. And, his January 10th presentation at The Emerson Center promises to leave you laughing, learning, and glad you arrived early for a preferred seat. No ticket is required. Arrive early for choice seating.
