"Florida's First Ladies" with Peggy Macdonald

Thursday, Mar 14, 2019 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Location: The Emerson Center

Category: Lectures

Dr. Peggy Macdonald, a native Floridian, is the executive director of the Matheson History Museum and an adjunct professor of history at Stetson University and Indian River State College. Her keen interest in the women who have served as "first ladies" of the Sunshine State has placed her behind the podium at museums, historical societies, universities, libraries, and community forums across the state. A natural thespian who turned to history, she brings history to life with animated storytelling backed by vintage photographs and historic postcards.

She is a contributing author of a soon-to-be-published historical anthology about Florida's first ladies. In 2014, she published “Marjorie Harris Carr: Defender of Florida’s Environment” and she regularly contributes to Gainesville Magazine, Our Town Magazine and Senior Times. Macdonald is an alumna of the University of Florida (PhD, 2010) and Hollins University, a women's college in Roanoke, Virginia.

No ticket is required. Arrive early for choice seating.
