Sunday, Jun 3, 2018 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Location: Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County

Category: Classes

Where would you take your pets if a disaster forced your evacuation? Who can help a community take care of animals when they’re rescued from puppy mills or hoarding cases? If you care about animals in these situations and want to make a difference, you are invited to join the RedRover Responders volunteer team.

Volunteer RedRover Responders provide lifesaving care and sheltering for animal victims of natural disasters, cruelty and neglect. RedRover’s nearly 4,000 trained volunteers come from across the United States and Canada and from all walks of life, but have one thing in common: a commitment to helping animals in need. While deployed to a temporary emergency animal shelter, RedRover Responders volunteers: - Set up and dismantle an emergency shelter for animals displaced by disaster or rescued from cruelty - Walk, groom and socialize the animals - Feed animals and clean cages - Organize supply donations - Reunite animals with caregivers - Assist with evidence gathering in cruelty cases - Assist with veterinary care Volunteers emerge from the training program feeling connected with the resources they need to be successful during RedRover deployments and in helping improve disaster preparedness for animals in their communities.  Learn more. Register in advance. Workshop fee is $45 USD and includes RedRover Responders Volunteer Manual and SOGs, learning guide, a t-shirt and certificate issued upon completion of the volunteer training program.
