The Auxiliary of Indian River Medical Center welcomes dedicated men, women and teenagers who are interested in sharing their time and talents as a volunteer at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. Share your smiles, skills, compassion, and time with patients, visitors, and the medical center family while making new friends.
The Auxiliary has been a forceful presence since 1952. The medical center appreciates the commitment of the Auxiliary – a strong, community-spirited group who come from all walks of life and occupations. Their dedication is matched only by their flexibility to change as IRMC continues to grow to meet the medical needs of our community.
The 500 plus members of the Auxiliary serve in more than 30 departments and service areas. These include various offices and waiting rooms, outpatient endoscopy, emergency department, cancer center, recovery room, reception/escort/courier services, Stork Club, the Pink Corner Gift Shop and the Thrift Shop at 1855 14th Avenue, and many more.
To meet the membership requirement of 75 hours a year, most auxilians serve one four-hour shift each week. A number of auxilians serve several days a week. Members earn badges for hours and pins for years of service, with milestones recognized at general meetings held in January and May. The medical center recognizes the Auxiliary for its contributions at an annual appreciation luncheon in April.
Members can also participate in various special events such as the Florence Booms Celebration of Lights or High School Career Forum.
