Masterworks III celebrates the two greatest composers of the Classical Era. Haydn—whose 104 symphonies continually defined, and redefined, the genre for both his contemporaries and generations of composers that came after—and Mozart whose short life produced some of the most remarkable and breathtakingly beautiful music written.

Featured is Haydn’s 90th symphony which blends exquisite craftsmanship with his famous sense of hilarity, and Mozart’s fresh and spontaneous 36th Symphony which was written in just four days.

In between, music by Haydn’s successor at the Esterhazy court, Hummel. Featured is his groundbreaking and virtuoso trumpet concerto—a work written for the progenitor of the modern trumpet.
