Citrus Elementary, established in 1967, successfully participated in the pilot program of the Indian River County School District to develop a School Improvement Team. The school began by developing a vision and mission statement with input from parents, students and business leaders in our community. Storm Grove Middle School

Storm Grove Middle School is a green school that is being built with environmental concerns in mind. The building of a school in a greener fashion is new to our District, and the school is very excited and proud to be a part of it. The school’s Community Advisory Committee developed founding ideas for Storm Grove Middle School. These ideas were built upon the environmental aspects of the school and on today’s need for conscientious living within the natural world.
Pelican Island Elementary

Home of the Lorton Nature Trail. Named for Aloa Lorton a retired Pelican Island teacher who first conceived the idea of making trails through the acreage around the school. With the help of family and friends, Mrs. Lorton began her work on the trail in 1982-83 (when the school first opened). The trail has since evolved into an important outdoor classroom used not only by the students from Pelican Island and the local high school but also by members of the community for the purposes of studying and enjoying the scrub habitat.
Sebastian River High School

Sebastian River High School, home of the Sharks, first opened its doors to a 'New Tradition' in August 1994. Since then, the campus has grown to include first rate educational and athletic facilities. Sebastian River is an IB Program school.

An example of this exciting learning opportunity is happening this semester. GMS 6th graders are extracting their own DNA, doing dissections of sheeps’ brains and completing a virtual autopsy.
