Beach Cleanup

Calling all beach-loving Floridians and Floridians-at-heart! Here's your opportunity to help Plastic Free Florida make our beaches abit more beautiful with a cleanup at Wabasso Beach.

You can make a major impact. This area of natural coastline attracts many nesting sea turtles through the summer and fall months. The greenies, loggerheads, and leatherbacks are attracted to the small plastic pieces as they begin to break down and will often starve or suffocate after accidentally ingesting plastic materials like those littering the beaches right now. Even cleaning this small bit of our coast can ensure another generation of turtles (and other ocean-life) are here for us to enjoy.

Meet our volunteer coordinators at the Wabasso Beach under the white Plastic Free Florida tent to receive your reusable cleanup supplies such as buckets, gloves, and mesh bags. Once you are signed in and geared up enjoy a stroll down the beach picking up any refuse you see. Our tent will be setup from 9am-11am and all debris and cleanup supplies can be returned to the tent so we can count them and ensure they are processed. Doctor Kirchner Natural Weed Killer is giving the first 100 participants stainless steel reusable straws! Beach Bites has been so kind as to offer participants free ice cream for participating as well!
