Navy SEAL Museum Announces 34th Annual Muster Keynote Speaker

The Navy SEAL Museum will host Medal of Honor Recipients Michael Thornton USN (SEAL) Ret. and Britt Slabinksi, USN (SEAL) Ret. at the 34th Annual Muster and Music Festival. The retired Naval Special Warfare operators will support RADM Kerry Metz, USN (SEAL) Ret., serving as the event’s keynote speaker. Open to the public, it is a special gathering, or “muster”, to honor veterans for their service to country.

The outdoor venue is free of charge, with discounted admission into the Museum of $10 for guests 13 and over, $5 for children 6 to 12. Visitors five-years-old and under and Museum members are always free.

Since 1985, the Navy SEAL Museum has opened its doors on Veteran’s Day to honor and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of the U.S. Military. Orchestrated and executed by a humble handful of staff and several dedicated volunteers, the Muster draws more than 10,000 guests each year, increasing visibility for the Museum’s mission, while helping to educate the public about the selfless warriors who preserve our freedom. About Rear Admiral Kerry M. Metz
Rear Adm. Kerry Metz holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver.

Commissioned via the Aviation Officer Candidate School in October 1984 and after a very brief time in aviation, he was assigned to the surface fleet where he served on USS Enhance (MSO 437).

Transferring to Naval Special Warfare, he completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training with Class 149 in April 1988.

He served in both Naval Special Warfare and Joint Special Operations assignments. His service overseas includes multiple deployments to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Promoted to rear admiral in October 2011, he served first as the deputy commander and then as interim commander of Special Operations Command Central from September 2011 to July 2013. In his final assignment he served as the first commander of Special Operations Command North.
