Hibiscus Children’s Center Receives Reaccreditation

05-16-2023

Hibiscus Children’s Center is pleased to announce that the agency received reaccreditation by the Council on Accreditation (COA). Hibiscus Children's Center has continually earned this distinction since 2003.

COA's mission is to partner with human and social service organizations to strengthen their ability to improve the lives of the people they serve. Accreditation provides a framework to manage resources, offer best practices, and strive for continuous improvement. This supports an organization’s sustainability, encourages growth, and helps demonstrate measurable results. COA accreditation is an objective and independent validation of an agency’s performance and results in the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

The following excerpt from COA’s Final Accreditation Report is a testament to the commitment Hibiscus staff have for the mission: “The organization’s strength is in their employees. The commitment and passion to the mission of this organization is evident across all programs and throughout its hierarchy. Despite the challenges of the past several years, the organization has remained a valuable resource for many children in Florida.”

CEO Matt Markley stated, “Hibiscus has been accredited for 20 years and is committed to providing the highest level of service to children and families. Our strength is grounded in our employees, dedicated to providing the best possible environment for children to heal, feel safe and imagine a better life.”

The Tilton Family Children’s Shelter in Jensen Beach and Hibiscus Village in Vero Beach provide safe haven for children along with mental health counseling, education services and career training skills. Community outreach services include a dedicated Sexual Abuse Treatment Program, only one of thirteen such programs in the state. Supporting Families in Crisis provides prevention services to St. Lucie families with a 100% success rate. SafeCare is an at-home parent education program serving St. Lucie and Indian River families. Last year more than 1,700 children and families were touched by a Hibiscus program or service.
