Need for charitable services in Indian River grows, social distancing concerns complicate efforts / by Knowhere Treasure Coast03-31-2020
As more people in Indian River County find themselves without work during the COVID-19 pandemic, charities that feed and serve the needy are seeing major increases in the demand for their services. But concerns about minimizing the spread of the virus have complicated those efforts.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, The Source was a fully licensed catering company providing food to other nonprofit organizations in the community, but that has come to a halt, said Anthony Zorbaugh, the organization’s executive director. Instead, just like conventional restaurants during the pandemic, the focus has shifted to providing meals for take-out and delivery.
