The People Behind Hibiscus Children's Center's Mission

When people think about Hibiscus Children's Center they often think about the children we serve—and rightly so. But I also think about the incredible people who show up every day to make our mission possible.

Our staff are at the heart of that mission. They are there 24 hours a day, providing children with safety, stability and care. They help with homework, listen when a child needs to talk, celebrate accomplishments and offer encouragement on the difficult days. Often, it’s those everyday moments of kindness and consistency that help a child begin to trust and heal.

Our professional therapists walk alongside children as they work through trauma and difficult experiences. They help them develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relationships and begin looking toward the future with greater confidence and hope.

I’m also continually grateful for the many people in our community who stand beside us. Our volunteers, mentors and tutors, community partners who organize activities, and groups who celebrate birthdays and special holidays. Our donors, Guild members, Board members, and funding partners provide the support, leadership and resources that make our work possible.

It takes all of us.

No single person can meet every need of a child who has experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment. But when caring people come together, we can surround that child with something incredibly powerful—a community that believes in them.

One of the things I value most about Hibiscus is the heart of the people behind our mission. Whether you care for a child each day, provide counseling to help them heal, volunteer your time, make a donation or simply tell someone about our work, you are part of the Hibiscus family.
