United Way of Indian River County provides $172,000 in pandemic assistance funding to local nonprofits / by Knowhere Treasure Coast


Nine agencies serving Indian River County’s needy have received a total of $172,000 to assist people out of work with rent, utilities, food, medicine, and other necessities during the coronavirus pandemic.

The money is the first phase of grants from the COVID-19 Community Response Fund launched March 17 by the United Way of Indian River County (UWIRC). The campaign has raised $245,000 so far from individuals, businesses and philanthropic groups, said Meredith Egan, UWIRC chief operating officer.
