Founded in 2011 as a Florida 501(c)(4) non-profit, Indian River Rugby Club continues to grow its footprint in the County and State. Currently, both a Men’s team and a Women’s team participate in the Florida Rugby Union. The club’s mission is to promote rugby in Indian River County by creating an opportunity for players to join and learn this dynamic sport. Indian River Rugby, IRRC, enjoys a continued relationship with Sebastian River High School Rugby as their alumni are represented as players, coaches, and administrators in IRRC. Players come from all backgrounds and segments of the community including college students, pilots, engineers, realtors, retired military, entrepreneurs, etc. IRRC is always looking for players that are either already in top fitness condition or want to attain a level of fitness condition necessary to meet the challenges of this sport.
The club is active off the playing field by volunteering throughout the community and partnering with local businesses. As a non-profit, IRRC is always looking for potential fundraising activities to cover club expenses.
Home matches are typically played at North County Park and other events include rugby tournaments, player clinics, coaching clinics, Florida Select High Performance Training, High School matches, even hosting the Mexican National 7s team for matches. Away matches are played in locations stretching from Key West in the south to Leon County in the north. We also participate in tournaments located in Ft Myers Beach, Broward County, Orlando, and out of State. What used to be exclusively fall and winter rugby field usage is now near year-round activity.
