Thrive has been the leader in substance misuse prevention and recovery services in Indian River County for over 35 years. Originally founded in 1989 as the Substance Abuse Council and later as the Substance Awareness Center, we began as a small organization providing resources, information and referrals on substance misuse prevention and recovery. Over the years, we have grown into the most complete prevention, recovery and treatment organization, expanding our services to meet the needs of our community. We believe that prevention starts early and continues throughout life. That’s why Thrive offers evidence-based programs for youth, families, and adults, helping individuals build resilience, make healthy choices, and understand the risks associated with substance misuse.

Recovery and support are also central to our work. Thrive connects people with resources, services, and community partners to ensure that those affected by substance misuse have the tools they need to heal and thrive.

What Thrive IRC provides:
•   Prevention education in schools, workplaces, and community settings.
•   Youth programs that teach leadership, resilience, and drug-free living.
•   Recovery support through treatment services, referrals, resources, and community connections.
•   Treatment addresses the physical, emotional, and behavioral aspects of addiction through individualized care plans including day treatment and outpatient services.
•   Peer support, led by certified specialists with lived experience, empower individuals by offering guidance, trust, accountability, and hope on their path to lasting recovery.
•   Public awareness campaigns to reduce stigma and increase knowledge.
•   Community events that bring people together around wellness, health, and prevention.
