Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic began its journey in the 1940s to meet the mental health and physical therapy needs of anyone requiring services. Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic opened in 1953 and was awarded a 501©3 non-profit qualification in 1958. Since our opening in a house donated by W.C. Graves, we have continued to identify and fulfill the needs of our community, setting the standard for quality, compassion, and professionalism in a friendly, supportive environment.

Our Therapy Services for Children and Adults

At Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic, we are committed to providing each client with personalized care tailored to their needs by highly qualified and compassionate professionals.

We accept: Medicare, Medicare replacement policies, most BC/BS plans, most Medicaid plans, Health First, Workers’ comp, Auto policies, Tricare, Self pay, uninsured. Out of network but still accepting patients: Aetna, BC/BS select HMO plans, Cigna, United Healthcare.

PHYSICAL THERAPY: Whether you require physical therapy for treatment or prevention, our team will help you reach your goals. Common conditions treated include gait and balance impairment, vestibular dysfunction, neurological disorders, orthopedic disorders, developmental delays, torticollis, cerebral palsy, and chromosomal and genetic disorders. 
 

Sunshine Physical Therapy is a Vestibular Therapy Center of Excellence.

SPEECH THERAPY: Speech Therapy helps develop necessary skills for effective communication, social expression, and safe swallowing. Common conditions include auditory processing disorder, social/pragmatic impairment, swallowing dysphagia, cognitive/language deficits, stuttering, and aphasia. 

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY: Occupational therapy addresses common issues of mobility, communication, sensory disorders, and cognition. Common conditions treated include abnormal muscle tone, stroke or brain injury, visual motor impairments, sensory processing disorder, autism spectrum disorder. 

SENSORY THERAPY FEATURING THE SADLEK SENSORIUM: The Sadlek Sensorium
One of the only sensoriums in the state of Florida is at Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic. It provides an array of sensory-stimulating features that help patients with sensory processing disorders regulate their senses through vibro-acoustics, visual cues, proprioceptive, vestibular, and tactile stimuli. The Sensorium is used to improve motor skills, manage behavioral problems, alleviate hyper-or-hypo-sensitivity to visual, tactile, auditory, or taste inputs, and address dementia or other cognitive declines. Often, it helps relieve stressors or distractions so patients can maximize the benefits of every therapy session.

ASSISTED FITNESS FOR SENIORS: Our assisted fitness program is open to past and current patients following their completion of therapy. The Assisted Fitness program at Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic allows our senior clients to improve their physical fitness through a personal exercise program designed by our certified fitness instructor. Goals include maintenance of rehab progress following therapy, promotion of preventative measures to maintain good physical health, and prevent recurrence of injury. 

PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY: A specialized service that treats conditions related to pregnancy/postpartum, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and more. Providing one-on-one sessions to ensure personalized treatment plans to address each patient’s unique needs utilizing techniques such as: pelvic floor strengthening and/or relaxation, manual therapy techniques, biofeedback, TENS, and other treatment methods.  

COMING SOON - ACUPUNCTURE THERAPY: Acupuncture Therapy is a specialized therapy service that treats conditions related to post surgical care, pain management, neurological conditions, autoimmune care and support, fertility and women’s health, asthma and allergies, digestive disorders, mental health issues, stress, insomnia, and more. Our one-on-one sessions focus on developing treatment plans that are tailored specifically for you, utilizing techniques that best support your journey. Techniques utilized include Ear Seeds/needling, Accu Injection Therapy, Tui Na (Asian Massage), food therapy, herbal medicine, and more. 
 

Community Education and Services

SUNSHINE MOBILE SENSORIUM: This project was inspired by the immense success of the Sadlek Sensorium at Sunshine Physical Therapy. In creating our travelling sensorium, our goal is to take effective sensory strategies on the road to share the benefits with those who may be unable to travel to Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic, such as assisted living facilities, adult day programs, day cares, special events, and facilities that would benefit from a calming multi-sensory environment.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION: Free clinic tours are available by appointment for both organizations and all community members. We would love to share more about the wonderful services Sunshine has to offer and provide an opportunity to meet our dedicated and friendly team.
