I received a last minute message from the Famed Fine Art Publisher, David Smith, who discovered artists such as (but not limited to): , Patrick Guyton, Christian Lasen, Michael Godard, Kira, , Craig Tracy, and many many more, asking to attend the Chris DeRubeis New Year Party in LA & to visit some galleries in Las Vegas. I didn't think I would be able to make the trip on such short notice, but it turns out I was able to! While my trip was short, I saw & did a lot in my limited amount of time. From touring California, Compton, Rodeo Drive, to Las Vegas I HAD A BLAST! Thank You Dave for an experience I will never forget.
First stop LA, wow - I have been to California before, but more so the southern part, San Diego area. This felt totally different, the mountins made me a little dizzy, but I loved it! All in one afternoon I got to travel to LA, Compton, Inglewood, Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, & Stevenson Ranch. The weather was absolutely perfect, no wonder they write so many songs about California ;)
Next day was the New Year party & my first time in over three decades of life seeing snow! Chris had 15 tons of snow delivered to his home in Stevenson Ranch, where he built a slope and little play area. The party was amazing. Chris' home was beautiful, and it was the first time I met his gorgeous & sweet wife as well. I have been selling Chris DeRubeis Fine Art for 8 years now and it's always nice to put a face to the artist's whole family!! That night I made a snow angel and felt like a little kid at Christmas. Then I hear "Hey Douglas" - to my surprise, after ignoring all my texts, my good friend/ co-worker/ mentor Douglas "Dougie" showed up!! Doug has been working with Dave for over a decade & is the Regional Manager for all of DeRubeis galleries. It made the party super awesome to see Dougie, I hadn't seen him in a little over a year. The party wasn't too crazy, it was a smaller group of people & very nice. Chris has excellent taste in his personal art collection as well, including a Michael Romero :)
I had the pleasure of acquiring the most awesome pair of shades, from Rodeo Drive, I've ever put on, Tumi is the brand, and again, thank you Dave! Growing up (and still to this day) my favorite show was "Beverly Hills 90210," so I was beyond stoked to be there in person. I felt just like Kelly Taylor ;)
So the next day we flew from LA to Vegas - as soon as I landed I felt the energy. Vegas has been on my list for so long, it's even ended a 6 year relationship in the past. I HAD A BLAST! Saw the gorgeous galleries, shopped in the gorgeous malls, got a killer outfit, then went out that evening and gambled. Although I can't say I became a millionaire in Vegas, I can say that I danced & gambled the night away. It was amazing. One of the galleries has an amazing artist who paints in a similar style to Roy Lichtenstein, and I fell in love with his art, Des Taylor is the artist. I will be back Vegas to acquire that piece of Fine Art!
It's not all about sales & work, sometimes there is room for play & unforgettable life experiences. It was like a dream. Thank you Don & Jake Burns for the extra time off and Thank You to Dave, Dougie, Chris, Fredrick Cook (awesome dude), and many others... It was the best New Year's I've had.
Now, back to work - so come into the gallery and BUY SOME ART FOR YOUR OWN HOME :) I hope all of you had a safe and blessed New Year and know that Vero visited & left a mark in Cali / Vegas! Until next time...
