Florida continues to dominate net domestic migration.  According to Wendell Cox, principal of Demographia, a public policy and demographics firm, Florida is outpacing every other state by sheer numbers – adding more than 1 million residents from other states over 7 years.

Texas tracked ahead of Florida until 2014 when domestic in-migration to Texas began to drop and later nosedive because of a slow-down in construction and the petroleum industry.

Last year, Lending Tree analyzed their mortgage loan requests from primary residents in all 50 states and found the number #1 destination for relocating homebuyers, from 18 of 50 states, were looking to move to Florida.

No state income tax, low cost of living, warm weather, tons of beaches and relaxed lifestyle continue to be the draw.  Homestead Exemptions on primary homes further reduce the property tax burden for Florida homeowners.

Now, with the “gig” and work/live anywhere economy made possible by the Internet, people are adding quality of life to their buying and relocation decisions.
